But the best way to have this experience is ANYTIME!  Jefferson is just a
sleepy little East Texas town languishing on the banks of a once industrious
bayou called Big Cypress.

The friendly people of Jefferson, in a laid back sort of way, roll out the red 
carpet for both week-day and week-end visitors.  They are eager to share
all sorts of local tidbits, from history to juicy gossip, and they have time to
do so.  Lodging can be found in B&B's within the city limits, or into historic
hotels.  And almost all of the historic homes, tours, shops, museums, and 
restaurants are conducting business as usual, but in a more relaxed fashion,
seven days a week.

However, if you would rather imagine the ghostly sounds of whistles past, 
Monday thru Thursday is your time.  In the evening, when all is quiet, take
a stroll past the old homes and buildings, and down to the river.  The 
imagination can run wild in a setting like this.  OR maybe it isn't your 
imagination at all.  Maybe the past is really folding around you along with
the river fog.
